In order to provide you with a more personalized experience when using our Emergency Mobile App, we need to know some information about you.
What personal information do we collect and how do we use it?
Our primary purpose in collecting Personal Information (as defined below) is to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. This allows us to provide services and features that are more likely to meet your needs, and to customize our Services to make your experience safer and easier. We only collect Personal Information about you that we consider necessary for achieving this purpose. “Personal Information” means information that specifically identifies an individual (such as a name, address, telephone number, mobile number or e-mail address) or other information about that individual that is directly linked to Personal Information. Personal Information does not include “aggregate” information, which is data we collect about the use of our Services.
We collect and store information, including Personal Information that is voluntarily supplied to us by you when registering or when using our Services. Some such information is required in order for you to register as a user on our Services. You agree to provide us with truthful information. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but by doing so, you may not be able to take advantage of many of our features and functionality. We use Personal Information to deliver our Services to you, to improve our services, and to develop analytics and aggregated data that allows us and affiliates of our Services to use our Services.
We also collect and store your Content. Such Content will be public after you publish it, and such Content may be broadly and instantly disseminated. Before posting or submitting Content, you should think carefully about what you are making public.
If you visit or use our Services on a Mobile Device or use our Emergency Help App, we may collect information from your device, including device ID, your mobile carrier, and your physical (GPS) location.
Unless you disable the geo-location functionality of our App or your Mobile Device, which will degrade our ability to provide accurate and timely service, our Services will track your location (when 3MayDay is activated and the GPS service on the Mobile Device is enabled) and associate and store such location with any Content that you transmit through our Services. We will also utilize your geo-location to determine whether you are within the geographical zone of one or more third party emergency responders who have signed up with our Services to receive incident data in their location.
Once you have established your account on your Mobile Device, we collect information we receive from your Mobile Device, such as your device’s type, number and the serial number of its chip. We also collect all payment card and transaction information, if any.
Use of our Services on a Mobile Device may allow your mobile carrier or other access provider to view data that appears on the device as a result.
What non-personally identifiable information do we collect and how do we use it?
We also collect and store non-personally identifiable information that is automatically generated when you use our Services. We automatically track certain information based upon your use of our Services. We use this information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand, protect and serve you and our community.
We may use “cookies” on our Services. A cookie is a piece of alphanumeric data stored on a Website visitor’s hard drive to help us improve the visitor’s access to our Services and identify repeat visitors to our Website. Cookies enable us to customize and enhance the user experience on our Services. We use the resulting non-personally identifiable information, such as your browser version, IP address, referring domains, pages visited, your mobile carrier, device and application IDs, the nature of your use of our Services and cookie information, to improve our Services, including advertising, and to develop analytics and aggregated data that allow us to use our Services and reach out to you via our Services.
We may set a persistent cookie to store your password, so you do not have to enter it more than once when accessing our Services. Persistent cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Services.
If you reject cookies, you may still use our Services, but your ability to use some areas of our Services may be limited.
Like many websites and applications, we automatically gather certain information about our Services traffic and use and store it in log files. This information includes Internet protocol addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer our Services, to track users’ movements around our Services and to gather demographic information about our user base.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
We may and our third party advertising affiliates may employ a software technology called clear gifs, also referred to as web beacons or web bugs, that help manage content on our Services by tracking what content is most useful to users. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ Personal Information.
We may use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails recipients have opened. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see “Choice and Opt-out.”
We may use embedded scripts, which are programming code that collects information about your interactions with our Services, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your computer or other device from our server and is deactivated or deleted when you disconnect from our Services. In addition, we may use a variety of other technologies that collect similar information for security and fraud detection purposes.
Communication from Us or our Services
Special Offers and Updates
We may occasionally send you information on products, services, special deals, and promotions. You can sign up for these emails from us on our registration page or other parts of our Services.

If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter(s), we may use your name and email address to send a newsletter to you. Out of respect for your privacy, we provide you a way to unsubscribe. Please see the “Choice and Opt-out” section.
We will send you strictly service-related announcements or in-app notifications when it is necessary to do so. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance we might send you an email or in-app notification.
Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account.
Based upon the Personal Information you provide us, we will send you a welcoming email to verify your username and password. We will communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your wishes or best customer service practice. You may contact customer service at email@example.com.
We may store information that we collect through cookies, and log files, and/or clear gifs, and/or third party sources to create a “profile” of your preferences. We may tie your Personal Information to information in the profile, in order to provide a better-tailored user experience and to improve the content of our Services for you.
We share your profile with third parties in aggregate form only.
Enhancement of Profile Information
We may purchase marketing data from third parties and add it to our existing user database, to better target our advertising and to provide pertinent offers in which we think you would be interested. To enrich our profiles of individual customers, we tie this information to the Personal Information they have provided to us.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personal Information without your consent. However we may share your Personal Information in situations described below:
- We may release your Personal Information to authorized agents who are employed by us to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share information with them to provide products and services to you. Unless we communicate with you differently, our authorized agents do not have the right to use any Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to work with us. You hereby consent to our sharing your Personal Information for the above purposes.
- Some Personal Information, such as users’ names, and location that is listed in your user profile or derived from IP addresses may be publicly visible to other users on our Services or to the web. To no longer display this information, you may delete your account at any time.
- If we believe it is necessary to investigate potential violations of our Terms and Conditions of Use, to enforce those Terms and Conditions of Use, to comply with law or to protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.
- Except as described above, we may release your Personal Information to third parties with your consent. You will be notified when your Personal Information may be shared with consent, and you will have the ability to prevent us from sharing this information in this manner.
Third Party Advertisers
The ads appearing on our Services, if any, are delivered to users by our advertising affiliates. We share Website and Emergency App usage information about users with our advertising affiliates for the purpose of targeting our Internet banner advertisements on this Website.

Choice and Opt-out
We provide you the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having your Personal Information used for certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example, if you purchase a product or service from us but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our order form.
We may also provide non-personally identifiable information, including Content, or aggregated information that does not identify you, to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses. For example, but without limitation, we may provide aggregated data about our users to cities and emergency service providers to help them improve their emergency services and communities.
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, if any, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication or by emailing us at email@example.com.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our Services. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Services and welcome any feedback about these sites.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that 3MayDay does not administer, or to individuals that 3MayDay does not employ.
Information You Post to Other Sites
Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily make your Personal Information or other private information available for viewing by third parties online – for example on blogs, discussion forums, or other community posting or social networking sites – that information can be seen, collected and used by others besides us. We cannot be responsible for any unauthorized third-party use of such information.
3MayDay is committed to protecting the security and privacy of your information stored by us. Only we and our hosting provider have access to this database. We will protect Personal Information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. While all standard security protections are implemented by us and our hosting providers, we cannot guarantee the physical or electronic security of the servers and databases on which our Services are hosted.
Our Website is not directed to people under 13 years of age, and you must be 18 or older to use any of our Services. If you become aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information without your consent, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with Personal Information, we take steps to remove that information and terminate the applicable account.
